MWC-2019

The MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2019  was full of important surprises and announcements from Orange. Part of the different innovations demonstrated during this MWC was Djingo, Orange’s virtual assistant. Djingo, if you haven’t heard about it yet, is one of the biggest Orange technological innovations, co-developed with Deutsche Telekom.

Why is Djingo important?

When GAFA have opened the market with the launch of virtual assistants, a lot of questions about our own IA product strategy and data protection were raised. The objective of the Djingo project is really to answer those concerns with an ambitious European project and an integrated data protection.

MWC and Djingo: it’s all about partnerships

This amazing multi-services and multi-interfaces virtual assistant had great announcement to make during MWC 2019, and it is covering also the API. Place to the partners first:

  • Bot Party: This allows partners who already have an existing bot to plug-it directly to Djingo. Oui SNCF (which is demonstrated in the bellow video), RATP to check the traffic.
  • Open API to partners: In Barcelona, the demonstration covered the shopping list integration with mass retailers.
  • Co-Design: Orange and those partners go further with a will to imagine together unique experiences through co-creation and design thinking workshops.

Those partners allow the assistant to offer a unique experience for its users. From Orange connected services, planning a train journey or following a recipe step by step. Those announcements have already been detailed.

Some feedback from MWC 2019

At MWC 19, on Orange Booth Djingo was presented in a dedicated bubble. Anne-Laure Vandamme, Partners Product manager, told us that she had a lot of positive feedbacks from analysts and journalists, (Ovum, Global Data, etc). Partners also came directly to the booth to test it like Amazon, Deutsche Telekom, LesEchos, Meteo France or Soundhound along all partners.

Even more, Djingo had visits of some major Spain politicians, some French deputies, and Orange’s execs like Stephane Richard, Gervais Pélissier and many more.
