Domos and Orange: Boosting Customer Experience with Network APIs

Orange, together with Nokia, conducted a 2-day hackathon during the VivaTech24.  After the hackathon, Orange and Domos continued to work together expanding on the experience proposed at Vivatech. The focus was to enrich the customer experience using Quality of Outcome and Quality on Demand for both mobile and fixed users. A few months later, we met with Domos CTO Magnus Olden to hear how things are progressing with Orange, after Domos won the Hackathon.

Hi Magnus, could you tell us what is the technology provided by Domos ?

At Domos, we develop technology that translates network performance into application quality, helping both apps and end users understand how their networks are performing and how they can improve them.

You participated at the VivaTech Network APIs Hackathon with Orange, what motivated your participation?

For this Hackathon we implemented the Microsoft Teams plugin where we measure and upgrade the network quality. Our motivation for joining this hackathon was to get early access to Network APIs like Quality on demand, congestion and connectivity insights.

You are the winner of the VivaTech Hacktahon. How your project progressed with Orange since then?

Network APIs is a perfect complement to our technology as it enables end-users and applications to better understand the network and how they can improve it. We were motivated to join the Hackathon so that we could test our technology on real networks and close the loop to make it actually work.

After the Hackathon, we progressed multiple fronts with Orange, both on commercially validating our technology and network APIs, and also technically integrating them.

Would you recommend developers or start-ups to participate to newt Hackathon organized by Orange?

Yes, I would strongly recommend anyone who really cares about app performance and network quality to join the next Hackathon.
