Consent management for Network APIs: from principles to practice

Trust is a prerequisite for using network data responsibly. As part of Orange’s Trust the Future vision, Orange helps developers and businesses address privacy requirements while building digital journeys that remain clear and practical for end users.

This video first introduces the fundamentals of consent management for Network APIs: what consent means, the GDPR principles that apply, and how the purpose of processing, the data requested and the country involved determine the appropriate privacy journey.

The second part brings these principles to life through a demonstration of “Rent a Bike”, a fictional application. The demo shows how the Consent Info API can simplify the user journey by checking whether valid consent already exists for a specific purpose before displaying a consent screen. This avoids unnecessary interruptions, reduces user friction and enables the application to move forward efficiently when consent is already in place.
